ABAC 5.4.1 -- Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village

The Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village (GMA) opened as the Agrirama on July 4, 1976. On July 1, 2010, by action of the Georgia General Assembly, the GMA became part of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

The grounds consist of ten areas: a traditional farm community of the 1870s, an 1890s progressive farmstead, an industrial sites complex, rural town, national peanut complex, art gallery, country store, conference facilities, the Museum of Agriculture Center, and Destination Ag. Over 35 structures have been relocated to the 95-acre site and faithfully restored or preserved. Costumed interpreters explain and demonstrate the life-style and activities of this time in Georgia’s history. ABAC’s Museum of Agriculture provides interactive, educational workshops and tours on the rich, rural heritage of Southwest Georgia and Agriculture and Natural Resources.

 The facility is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. (subject to seasonal operating hours). The GMA is closed during the months of January and August. The GMA functions under the leadership of the Vice President for Finance and Operations.
